We created Gardienne des Vignes Winery in 2009 based on our passion and dedication to wine and our true love of Napa Valley. We were married at Black Sears Vineyard on Howell Mountain in 2003 and our daughter was baptized there in 2005. We established the Winery operations in Napa in 2009 and crushed our first Zinfandel fruit from Black Sears Vineyard in October of 2010.
Our passion does not lie with the Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay of Napa Valley. Instead, we connect with, the Old Vine and Heritage sites of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, which we consider the “Jewels” of the Valley. Witnessing many of these great old vineyards being pulled out as the demand for Napa Cabernet grew and the new generation began to take over control of family vineyards, we were determined to become involved with some of our favorite vineyards and try to help insure their legacy. The spirit of these Old Vine Zinfandel and Petite Sirah vines and the people that tend to them is the very essence from which Gardienne des Vignes was born.
Gardienne des Vignes Winery is dedicated to producing small handcrafted lots of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from family-owned vineyards taking care to preserve the unique characteristics of each vineyard site and the people who have spent their lives farming these special vineyards. Gardienne des Vignes is a celebration of tradition, family, hard work and the history of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah in the Napa Valley.
